Proud Sponsors of Alex's Team Foundation

Alex’s Team exists to honor Alex’s legacy by improving outcomes for children with cancer, supporting the families walking alongside them, and investing in the nurses and researchers who make lifesaving care possible. Our work is organized across four core impact pillars that allow sponsors to clearly understand where their support goes and the lives it touches.

Annual sponsorship provides flexible, year-round funding that sustains these pillars and ensures we can respond where the need is greatest.

Our Four Pillars

Nursing Support & Professional Development

Pediatric oncology nurses stand beside families through the hardest moments of their lives. For more than two decades, Alex’s Team has invested in the education, recognition, and professional growth of these nurses at Boston Children’s Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health — because when nurses thrive, patients and families feel it.

Programs include: The Alexandra Jane Miliotis Oncology Nursing Support Endowment (est. 2003), funding conference attendance, educational speakers, and nurse-led research; and year-round appreciation through meals, recognition events, and our “Nurses Are Heroes” campaign.

Research, Internships,
& Career Pathways

Alex’s Team builds the pipeline of people who will fight pediatric cancer for generations to come — funding early-stage research, competitive fellowships, and clinical internships that draw talented young professionals into the field.

Programs include: The Alexandra J. Miliotis Pediatric Oncology Research Fund at Harvard Medical School (50+ fellows funded; 70%+ go on to careers in pediatric oncology); Walensky Lab Research Fellows; and the Piccolo Family Charitable Foundation Nursing Internship at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Patient & Family Support Programs

Alex’s Team delivers direct, tangible support to pediatric cancer patients and their families — easing everyday burdens so they can focus on what matters most.

Programs may include: Alex’s Care Kits, free comfort packages shipped directly to patients in treatment; The Laundry Project, providing weekly laundry services during extended hospital stays; and special experiences and survivor celebrations through partnerships with LEGO and WeGotThis.org.

Awareness & Education Campaigns

Awareness keeps the mission moving. Alex’s Team runs targeted campaigns that elevate patient, family, and nurse stories — and keep pediatric cancer visible year-round.

Campaigns include: Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (September), with digital storytelling and community outreach; and National Nurses Week (May 6–12), honoring oncology nurses at our partner hospitals through recognition and appreciation initiatives.
